Highlighting gender disparity on global live news

Recently, our founder Svitlana Martynjuk had a chance to speak about the inequalities women still face in the art world today.

Streaming LIVE on Ticker News in Australia, Svitlana brought up important points about the representation gap women experience. Women artists make up over 60% of graduates with MFA degrees, however, there are only 13.7% of living women artists in major museums and galleries. The pay gap women experience is not any less significant. All SHE Makes founder reminded the audience of the fact that there is nearly a hundred million dollar difference in the most expensive work ever sold by a man and a woman, with men pulling in most of the money from the art market. Another important point to remember is that while people tend to collect and invest more money into art by men, this might be due to the fact that historically, the art presented to us by institutions is mostly made by men. We need to hold curators and directors accountable for making art opportunities equally accessible to everyone and making sure that art history is written accurately.

Ticker News also had a chance to highlight our newly published magazine and the significance of offering more publishing opportunities for women artists.
